A 1903 marriage in the Zak family
The Telšiai register records the marriage on 14 February 1903 Old Style, 30 Shevat 5663. The Hebrew half reads the groom exactly as אלי׳ בן יוסף שמוקלער and the bride as חי׳ בת אבא זאק. The surname Shmukler appears on both the Hebrew and Russian halves. The age columns give the bride as 22 and groom as 24; the ketubah is 84 rubles.
The wider record set establishes the groom as Rav Moshe Shmuel under his borrowed-papers identity. An abbreviation on the Hebrew half reads כמ״הּ; its expansion remains unresolved and is not supplied here.
