Yechiel becomes Joel

The LitvakSIG index to the Lithuanian birth register lists Okhel/Iokhel on May 26, 1912 Julian / June 8 Gregorian at Olsiady/Alsėdžiai. Joel’s original declaration gives Kurtzan and June 10, 1912 [HIGH], while naming Alsedziai as last foreign residence [HIGH] and his entry as Jochel Sapiro on April 4, 1927. The two-day and place-field distinctions remain explicit. New petition 217141 repeats the chain. The triplicate carries Joel’s first known photograph and signature. The 1912 birth entry is known here from the index, not a view of its register page.

The document supplies his stated name, birth details and occupation.
